Job Description

Full or Part Time flexible hours, salary up to £60k, relocation up to £5k, friendly, welcoming team.

We have a wonderful, friendly, longstanding team at Vets for Pets Perth and due to a valued member of our Vet team leaving for their dream job, we are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join us, on a full-time or part time permanent basis.

‘As a team, we all support each other, and endeavour to create a happy, constructive and supportive working environment focusing on the importance of a good work life balance and mental health support.’  Philippa, Vet and JVP

We pride ourselves on offering high standards of care while identifying areas to further improve.  It’s important to us that we work in a way that is best for us and our team.  We hold regular team meetings and 1:1s to make sure all team members get the chance to impact ‘how we do things,’ and to give the opportunity to focus on development, both individual and how we move forward as a practice. Currently, we are working towards becoming an RCVS accredited, ISFM cat friendly and RWAF rabbit friendly practice and are starting to work towards a sustainability accreditation.

Our experienced team, which includes JVP and vet Phillipa, are happy to mentor and pass on their knowledge in a supportive and constructive way.  You will also be supported by our Head RVN/Joint Venture Partner Fionn, two RVNs, one SVN, two Client Care Advisors and a supportive Practice Manager.

‘Vets4Pets Perth has an incredibly welcoming team and I’ve felt at home right from my first day with them. If I was looking to stay in the area, I would have already snapped up a job with them. They have a collaborative team that works really well together, with an excellent level of patient care and regular conversations on how to improve upon this high standard. There is a good mix of surgery and consultations, with regular set aside catch-up time. Importantly, they have a nice client base. Vets4Pets Perth is definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for a friendly practice with great work life balance.’ Gregor A D Coull MRCVS

As well as having an open-minded approach to our team’s ideas in practice, we also value everyone’s interests outside of work as well.  We have crafters, sportswomen, hikers, hillwalkers, artists, volunteers and would love to add more interests to our team.  We like to embrace each other’s commitments and plan to try each other’s and new hobbies as a team in the future. We make sure to celebrate our teams achievements and special occasions whether it be a birthday, Halloween, Thanksgiving or something else that is important to an individual.

We offer full or part time hours and are happy to discuss a rota that is flexible to your commitments, whether that be weekend only, childcare friendly, full or half days or whatever you require to achieve the work life balance you need.  We are open 8:30am to 7pm weekdays, 9am to 5pm Saturdays and 10am to 4pm Sundays with a current 1 in 2 weekend rota which will extend to 1 in 3.  There are no OOH, with Vets Now Dundee covering all our OOH emergencies.

Your workload will be 100% small animal and some exotics and will include a range of first opinion consultations, medical work-ups and surgery. Standard 15-30 minute appointments are made for all small animal medical cases. Our team work together to ensure everyone gets their lunch break and we plan dedicated periods for admin tasks such as case follow ups and lab reports. Ideally you will feel comfortable with routine consults and surgery and confident working occasional sole charge.

Our practice, which was re-built in March 2021, is based on St Catherine’s Retail Park in the centre of Perth. Perth is a lovely city, surrounded by fantastic scenery and steeped in rich history, with easy access to buses, train stations and motorway. Located half an hour from Dundee, just over an hour from Edinburgh and little over two hours from the Cairngorms, it is the perfect location for exploring Scotland on your days off. Our great location and wonderful loyal client base also means we benefit from a good variety of cases, including some interesting exotics (including Meerkats & Coatimundi’s).
