Basildon Pipps Hill Vets for Pets is looking for a new or recently graduated vet to join their team and our award-winning graduate scheme.

We are based inside Pets at Home on the busy Pipps Hill Retail Park and offer free onsite parking and convenient access to major transport routes including the A13 and A127. 
You will be joining the current supportive team of 5 vets, 6 registered veterinary nurses, 4 student nurses/ VCA, 5 receptionists, 1 client account manager and 1 practice manager. We hold a variety of individual interests within the team including orthopaedics, internal medicine and diagnostic imaging, vets who have completed their certificates and who are working towards it.

We work in a lovely, purpose-built practice with state-of-the-art equipment including digital X-ray, flexible and rigid endoscopes and easy access to a 16 slice CT scanner. Because we benefit from a fully equipped endoscopy suite, we encourage the use of minimally invasive procedures like otoendoscopy for diagnosis and treatment of ear disease, rhinoscopy, bronchoscopy, gastroendoscopy and colonoscopy, lap assisted biopsies, enterotomy, cystotomy and ovariectomy. We have Colibri II Synthes power drill to help is with orthopaedic surgeries. We are very passionate about pain management for our pets and routinely perform nerve blocks, CRIs and up-to-date with knowledge of recent advancement in anaesthesia and pain management. We have invested in multiparameter monitors, nerve locator machine, syringe drivers, drip pumps etc. We have a high-end cart based multi-probe ultrasound scanner which can also perform echocardiography. We have a therapeutic laser equipment. 
We are also really excited about our recent practice expansion which will added additional surgical theatre and consult rooms which will enabled us to offer better services. We have also invested in a wall mounted dental x-ray machine which enables us to offer better dental services to our clients. 
We see a real variety of cases with a ratio of approx. 60:40 dogs to cats. We perform lots of orthopaedic procedures in-house including patella luxation, fracture repairs, cruciate surgeries with TPLO and we also carry out a wide variety of soft tissue surgery.   

The ro,e is full-time, 41 hours per week, with 1 in 4 weekends. We are open between 9am-7pm on weekdays, 9am-5pm Saturdays and Bank Holidays, 10am-4pm Sundays. There is no OOH!

You’ll be supported from day one by a dedicated mentor/Vet GDP Advisor, you’ll also be able to take paid leave to attend the varied CPD programme designed by vets specifically for new graduates. As you build your confidence in caring for pets and their owners, you’ll grow your own client base and see the continuity of cases with the support of your wider team. You won’t be in sole charge of cases until you’re ready.
As a standard on the Graduate Development Programme, we offer a 2-year programme with no financial tie-ins, guaranteed starting salary of at least £35,500 per annum with reviews each year on programme, 10-12 clinical/non-clinical structure CPD days a year with covered travel costs, access to wellbeing support and free membership of wellbeing app and support with practice transfer should the need to arise.
