Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to come and join our inclusive team at Ely Companion Care.
We’re a friendly, empathetic and supportive team made up of 2 Vets, 5 RVNs, 3 Receptionists and 1 Practice Manager who love to enjoy our time in work, often having team treats or lunches on a Friday together – there’s always chocolate and sweets around in practice! We have the feel of an independent practice but with the support of the rest of the group – and we even have a practice rabbit called Bunnykins!
Day-to-day we’re steadily busy which can be interspersed with emergencies or unexpected customers. Our nursing team is always prepared and ready for any patient scenario whilst our reception team are A* at helping clients with detailed or unusual queries. It really highlights how well we all pull together as a team on a daily basis.

We’re well equipped with dental & digital x-ray, a new ultrasound, laser, Rhinoscope and we deal with a number of our furry friends including all breeds of cats and dogs, plus some exotic cases such as lizards and rats.
Being based in Ely we have several picturesque nature reserves and long scenic walks along the River Great Ouse on our doorstep. Our stand-alone practice is a 2-minute walk away from the centre with its array of beautiful shops, eateries and breathtaking cathedral. Or if you’re looking at venturing a bit further afield, we have great transport links to Cambridge, Newmarket, Peterborough or the stunning Norfolk coast – there really is something for everyone!
We’re looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon, comfortable with sole charge, to work up to 30 hours per week, including 1 in 4 Saturdays but no OOH! We are flexible as to the hours as we can adjust shifts to help with childcare etc.
