Job Description
Are you looking to join a practice that is passionate about supporting colleagues to achieve their career goals whilst also supporting their well-being? We’ve got an amazing opportunity for a qualified nurse to join our York team, where you’ll be delivering outstanding care to the highest standard
About us:
We are an experienced team of 6 vets, 7 RVNs, an SVN, and an experienced front of house team who are all encouraged to utilise their skills as much as possible which means our days run as smoothly as possible.
One area we place particular emphasis on is team well-being. This is demonstrated in the way our diary is arranged allowing you the time to think about and thoroughly work-up cases as well as taking the ‘down-time’ you need in the day. We have a beautiful garden area for the team to enjoy and an indoor colleague area for the colder days. We have a well-being board for the whole team for recognition and to organise social events for the whole team and have two mental health first-aiders in the team. We hold regular practice and vet meetings to allow everyone chance to input into our ways of working and have our own WhatsApp chat groups allowing for extra case discussion and an additional channel of support.
We are an RCVS-accredited practice with a bronze ISFM accreditation, and we're proud to be an approved veterinary nurse training practice. If you're looking to develop your skills and grow in your career, we’re here to support you every step of the way!
Our commitment to client care means we have a loyal and friendly client base with a good percentage of insured pets so get to keep cases in house where appropriate. We also welcome peripatetic orthopaedic surgeons, ultra-sonographers and cardiologists giving us continuity in practice too.
We also support lots of local community events including school visits, brownies and cubs helping to cement our local reputation.
About you and the role
We understand the importance of a healthy work life balance and so we are able to offer you either full or part time hours! Whatever you’re looking for, we invite you to come and talk to us and see what we can offer you. There will be Saturdays on a rota basis included
Nurses are the heart of our practice and perform an integral clinical role in caring for our patients. We’re looking for a proactive, enthusiastic team player who is keen to work in a progressive, fast paced first opinion practice, with high clinical standards. The key to your success will be your ability to embrace all aspects of the veterinary nurse role, delivering excellent patient and client care.
You’ll have good general nursing experience and great customer service skills, be cheerful, down-to-earth and enthusiastic with a genuine interest in animal welfare. Our team of RVNs are able to utilise their full range of skills and we actively encourage all our colleagues to develop their individual areas of clinical interests.
Whether you’re a newly qualified RVN looking for your first role in a practice you can really learn and thrive, or an experienced nurse ready to take your career to the next level, we’d love to hear from you! We’ll support you every step of the way.

Pets just see people. They aren’t biased and they don’t discriminate. We take our inspiration from pets, and we value and respect difference in all its forms. Our aim is to reflect the diversity of the communities we operate in, and every colleague can help us achieve this. We encourage our people to be themselves so even if your skills and experience don’t perfectly align, if you think you can make a unique contribution through your values and behaviours, we want to hear from you!
